Keep your blog’s readers coming back with a little commentluv

January 11, 2008 · Posted in Blogging, Networking, People Skills, Self-help, WordPress

I recently discovered a WordPress plugin that I really like – so far. It’s called commentluv.

A brief description of commentluv.

Basically, it works like this:

  1. A person, (who has their own blog) reads on of your blog articles.
  2. That blogger then leaves a comment on your site.
  3. The commentluv plugin then goes to the other bloggers blog and retrieves that bloggers latest post title and places it at the end of his/her comment as a link back to his/her site.

Sounds cool, huh? Want to see how it works? Go to my article Six Barriers to Successful Living and scroll down through the comments. At the bottom, you will see where MichelleVan has left a couple of comments since I have installed this plugin.

Example

Try the commentluv plugin for yourself

Leave me a comment and then watch and marvel at how well it works. Instant links.

Thanks Andy for this fantastic plugin. I hope that this article sends a lot of traffic your way. You deserve it. Kudos!

    Chris:

Wow, that’s really cool. I’ve already done a lot to provide for link love to those who comment on my site. This is another added bonus for them! I’m definitely going to try this. It’s way cool. Amazing stuff.

Thank God for plug-in developers. Now if we can get them to provide us with a plug-in where we get to choose which posts were the “best” or “popular” and then manually insert the URL for those (instead of the plug-in that automatically does it for us - I’d rather input it myself). If anyone knows of a plug-in for that objective, that’d be great.

In any case, thanks for pointing out commentluv. :)

It sounds like a neat plug-in, but I oddly have mixed feelings on it, as I always follow links that bloggers leave anyway! :P

    Hi Adrian,

Thanks for stopping by and leaving your thoughts. The plugin seems to work most of the time - but not every time. I am not sure why not, yet. I will keep looking into it, but hey, you got 2 links back to your site with just this one comment. How cool is that?

I was finally able to squeeze in enough time to install commentluv. Chris, thanks for the link. Andy, thanks for the plugin.

Is there any way to do this with Blogger? Or is this another reason so many people are switching to WordPress?

    Hi Anali,

Thanks for stopping by soupornuts.com. I am not familiar with Blogger. I would Google the phrase “commentluv plugin for blogger”. That may turn up something for you. If not, then come on over to Wordpress. It’s a blast.
