Your definitely right, hard work will not kill you. Most of the time it only makes you appreciate the rewards and sense of accomplishment even more. Some of the most rewarding times in my professional career have been after mind blowing; tuff projects came to a successful end.

I’m glad to hear from hard-working people. So many want a to get-rich-quick. It sounds like you and your husband have set a fine example for your children, who I’d be willing to bet, are doing well for themselves and passing the work ethic that they learned on to their children. Chris, my husband definitely believe in doing an honest day of work. He has owned his parking lot striping business for over 20 years. Our children would work on the parking lots with us in the summers starting when they were 7 and 8 years old. My son bought his first Nintendo game with money that he earned working one summer with his dad. As we have started getting a little older, I have started having breathing problems in the hot Arkansas summers so I don’t work as much with my husband as I used to. We are both in our late 50’s. I don’t see myself as old. I don’t think I ever will and I love working outside and my husband is an easy going boss and I do listen to my body now. I didn’t always. We do, most of us, get wiser as we get older.

Chris, my husband bought school clothes for himself every year plus his first car by cutting lawns in the 1960’s. I think he said he was 14 years old when he went to Otasco Hardware Store and asked them to sell him a lawn mower on credit so he could start his business. They took a chance since he could show them that he was already hired to cut several yards in his small hometown of northwest Louisiana.

Stephen Hopson keeps talking about you on his blog so I decided to come see for myself. This meme was fun. I did it myself several months ago.

Before visiting Hawaii, I had never really considered living any place other than Alabama (the climate is great). However, after a week in Maui, my opinion changed.

Maui is definitely on my short list of vacation homes.

I did a meme like this months ago and it’s actually under the list of “most inspiring posts” at my blog. It was so much fun.

So naturally I took a great interest in seeing this on your site – I love having a peek at other blogger’s personal lives because, well, it makes it INTERESTING! And it puts a more of a personal stamp at the blog I’m reading.

It’s fascinating to learn that your grandparents were sharecroppers. HOw interesting.
